Uniform Policy

The board has voted on and approved the following policy regarding uniforms for the 2008-2009 school year:

OUS students are required to begin wearing uniforms on the first day of school if they are SR K through 8th grade.  However, there will be a 2 week grace period if uniforms have not been received.  During the first two weeks any student not wearing a uniform to school will have a note sent home reminding them to wear their uniform.  After the two week period is over, students not in uniform will be sent home until they are dressed correctly.  There will be exceptions made for students who are new to OUS and simply have not had adequate time to order and receive their uniform.  We ask that parents of new students please send a note if your child is not in uniform explaining that the uniform has been ordered.

There is not a specific style of shoe or sock required; however all students must wear closed toe shoes and white socks each day.  Shoes that are appropriate for PE must be worn on PE days.

As weather permits, the fleece OUS jacket from Parker is the required outer layer inside the classroom buildings.  However, an additional outer layer is permitted if needed for outdoor activities.

Boys in 1st-8th grade are required to tuck in their shirt each day and wear a brown belt.  Girls are also required to tuck in the Peter Pan collar shirts; however the middy and 3 button blouses are to be worn untucked.  Girl’s skirts and dresses should be hemmed no shorter than a “finger tip” above the knee.

There will not be an assigned dress day; however teachers will send notes home when students are required to wear their “dress uniform.”
