Welcome

On behalf of the students, staff, and the Oxford University School communty, welcome to our website.  We are pleased to share with you information about our school's mission, philosophy, curriculum and future goals.

Oxford University School was established in 1984 by a core group of parents who wanted an educational alternative for their children.  OUS has an excellent reputation both locally and regionally for providing academic excellence in a nurturing enviroment where all children are given the opportunity to reach their individual learning potential.

Striving to be an inclusive school, we celebrate the uniqueness of each individual student and their families.  Students are admitted without regard to race, color, religion, gender, and national or ethnic origin.

We hold dear the traditions and values that have served us well in years past while incorporating current curriculum and technology that will give our students the ability to excel in present and future educational endeavors.

Students are challenged by a rigorous, but developmentally appropriate academic program that includes core academic subjects.  Other subjects included in the curriculum are music, art, Spanish, physical education, and computer lab.

Our excellent faculty and staff nurture and encourage each child to reach their full learning potential by teaching to individual strengths and weaknesses.

The OUS community is excited about future plans to continue to serve students in a state of the art facility.  Under the direction of the OUS Board of Directors we are presently in the first stages of our capital campaign, "Preserving Our Past, Builiding Our Future," which will allow us to relocate to a new 25 acre campus with new state of the art facilities.

I invite you to visit OUS, examine the curriculum and observe the teachers and children at work in the classrooms.  When you come you will observe children who are being challenged academically, who are engaged in developmentally appropriate learning experiences across the curriculum, and who are experiencing the joy of learning in a nurturing environment.
