Head of School Message

I am honored to serve in the roll of Head of School. Being in this leadership role offers many challenges and exciting possibilities for me as an educator. As a classroom teacher for 35 years, I wanted to create a learning environment for my students that fostered academic excellence, recognized the uniqueness of each individual child, and encouraged the importance of independent thinking. Each year my goal was to help every child reach their individual learning potential and create in them a genuine love of learning. I’ve watched former OUS students who have had this kind of learning experience take this love of learning with them wherever they go.

In my new roll as Head of School I will not be planning for an individual classroom but be responsible for guiding the faculty to set their classroom goals and create educational opportunities for OUS students that follow only the highest standards. I will continue to work to structure the OUS curriculum objectives to reflect national standards. I pledge to lead by example to work hard to make OUS continue to be the best educational option for families in this community.

Parents choose to send their children to OUS because they know the importance of education. What better gift to give children than to empower them with the knowledge and skills they will need to one day create their own futures, contribute to a diverse and changing world, and remain passionate lifelong learners.

As teachers, parents, and children embark on our educational journey this year please know that I believe in the mission of OUS and expect only the best of myself and the OUS faculty and staff as we work together to provide wonderful learning experiences for students at OUS.

Associate Head of School Message

Welcome to OUS. Our school is an integrated learning environment combining core instruction with music, foreign language, sports, and technology. Additionally, we incorporate the many cultural activities in our area as part of the learning experience. Field trips are routine during each nine week quarter and our middle school grades will enjoy class trips to various historical parts of the country such as Boston, Philadelphia, Williamsburg, and Chicago.

OUS has always been known for the academic achievement of its students and we pride ourselves in the outstanding faculty that strives so diligently to maintain that standard. We begin and end with the premise that the best ingredients will produce the best results. Providing the atmosphere most conducive to learning is also the mission of the OUS leadership that includes our Board of Directors. They, along with each of us, want to see every child reach the full potential of his or her ability.

Again, welcome. Come be a part of something special.
